what human intelligence is, and why it is the scarce input now
No artificial intelligence without actual intelligence.
Two definitions first, because everything else on this site leans on them.
1. The open web is filling with synthetic text.
Open a search result and read the first three pages that come up. Some were written by a person. A growing share were assembled by a model, published by a script, and tuned to rank. Nothing on the page tells you which is which. The cost of producing a plausible page has gone to roughly zero, so the volume of plausible pages is going up, and it is not going to stop. This is not a complaint about AI. It is a description of the input mix.
