martin after cannes: human-authenticated content and the license renewals

Benzinga, on X, 25 June 2026, after the Cannes advertising festival. Paraphrase of Martin's points about Reddit (the stock, NYSE: RDDT):

  • Human-authenticated content may let the existing data licenses with Google and OpenAI renew at higher terms, because the buyers cannot get it elsewhere.
  • Real human conversation gets more valuable as AI-generated material spreads across the rest of the web.

Why it is here: this is the Buyer 1 side of same asset, two buyers, with a mechanism attached. The scarcity argument in r/thesis predicts that the price of verified human text should rise as synthetic share rises. Renewal terms are where that prediction would show up first.

Not the token. $HI is a token on the HI/RDDT pair, not Reddit stock.

What it proves: the scarcity argument has a place where it would be tested, license renewals, and an analyst is pointing at it.

This is about the stock, the token is unrelated, correct?

Correct. Licensing revenue goes to Reddit Inc. $HI is a token on the HI/RDDT pair and receives nothing from any of it.

Worked adjacent to a data licensing negotiation once. The only question that mattered was "can we get this anywhere else". For human text the answer keeps getting shorter.
